Bio – A little about me

Hi Everyone,

My name is Mrs. Johnson and I’m the Reading Specialist/Math interventionist here at Scotland Elementary School. It hardly seems possible that I’m beginning my 12th year here! I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Art education at Westfield State University and spent the next 25 years as a working artist. In 2006 I earned my Master’s in Early Childhood Education/special education from Eastern Connecticut State University. I went on to earn another Master’s degree, again from Eastern, as a Reading Specialist. My final course work took place at Southern Connecticut State University where I earned my certification as a Reading Consultant.

Outside of school, I sing and play the guitar as a duo with my husband. I’m also the lead singer in a 4 piece band called Twist of Fate. I continue to create art, especially photography, though I no longer sell my pieces.  My husband and I are the resident fudge makers each summer at the Coventry Farmer’s Market and the Bozrah Farmer’s Market, among others. You can see that I’m one busy lady!
