Bio – A little about me

Hi Everyone,

My name is Mrs. Johnson and I’m the Reading Specialist/Math interventionist here at Scotland Elementary School. It hardly seems possible that I’m beginning my 12th year here! I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Art education at Westfield State University and spent the next 25 years as a working artist. In 2006 I earned my Master’s in Early Childhood Education/special education from Eastern Connecticut State University. I went on to earn another Master’s degree, again from Eastern, as a Reading Specialist. My final course work took place at Southern Connecticut State University where I earned my certification as a Reading Consultant.

Outside of school, I sing and play the guitar as a duo with my husband. I’m also the lead singer in a 4 piece band called Twist of Fate. I continue to create art, especially photography, though I no longer sell my pieces.  My husband and I are the resident fudge makers each summer at the Coventry Farmer’s Market, the Ellington Farmer’s Market, and the Bozrah Farmer’s Market, among others. You can see that I’m one busy lady!
