Sixth Grade Lobbies at the Capitol for Raising the Legal Age for Smoking

Sixth grade got invited to the Capitol to read their pursuasive essays in Health class to change the smoking age from 18 to 21.  Senator Mae Flexer came to our school a few weeks ago to listen to their essays and answer questions.  She was impressed and asked that the sixth grade read four of the best essays in front of the legislators at the Capitol.  The pictures below show the students brainstorming and editing their essays with Mrs. Lowney.  The bottom pictures show them all dressed up and ready to go.  The four students were the ones selected to read.
